So, the fact that in a matter of a month or two, we managed to coordinate schedules for 8 of the 12 of us to be together for a few days is quite impressive! It was quite a fun mini-reunion!
There was, of course, much eating and teasing and music and visiting. But we also planned a few semi-organized activities.
With 6 out of the 7 sisters together, we took the opportunity for a little girls night out! Olive Garden (so yummy!) followed by a crafty evening at "Color Me Mine." We wished we had more time to be creative with our painting, but it was great fun!
On Monday we all drove up Little Cottonwood canyon for a picnic lunch. It was nice to be in the mountains again. I sure miss looking out. There are so many trees in Boston that the few piddly hills they have don't offer much of a view. It was a beautiful day, and the kids had a great time playing on the "closed" playground.
On the way back down, we stopped and looked at the Temple Quarry. The Salt Lake Temple was built from granite that was taken from here. You can still see marks on the remaining stone from where they drilled. There was a beautiful stream there that provided cool entertainment for quite a while. Sadly, I did not take pictures of this day....
The next day we all ventured to the Hogle Zoo. It was a toasty day, but everyone managed to have fun! My favorites were the elephants and the bird show. I did manage to take a few pictures here:
After returning home, we went for a big family swim across the street in a very kind neighbor's backyard. And followed it up with a yummy BBQ.
