Birthday Boy

Poor Mr. B always has to share his birthday with the spooky holiday (he doesn't seem to mind (yet), but I sure do). But since it was on Sunday this year, we pretended that Halloween was on Saturday (thank you Trunk-or-Treat!) and that it was just HIS special day on Sunday.

After church, we had a little mostly-family party. His main wish of the year, a scooter:

"You mean you really got me what I wanted?"

Score!:

He picked pizza and carrot sticks for his dinner, and wanted a football cake. Luckily frosting covers a multitude of cake-shaping sins....

Happy Birthday to our big boy! We can't imagine life without you.


And, more for my purposes than any of yours, a little summary of what he's up to as he turns 6:

Mr. B, you were made for Kindergarten, and Kindergarten for you. You have been the happiest guy since you started school. It seems to have been perfect timing, as you have mastered and overcome so many of your frustrations and inhibitions in the last few months. We only dreamed that someday you would participate in the Primary Program, but you did it this year! You sang like a champ for mom and you said your whole part memorized! You are very good in class and answer lots of questions. Show-and-Tell at school made you nervous until we told you you could take one of your Lego creations. You have so many girls fighting over you at recess. Your teacher can't say enough good things about you: yYou are a good example to your classmates in following directions, taking care of your belongings, and being considerate of others. You are such a smarty--reading and writing so well by yourself. You still love your Legos, and miss your daily nap-time sessions with them. You have really come to love drawing and coloring--making sure all of the white space is colored in. You make beautiful cards for others when you think they need some extra love. We are so lucky to have you in our family!
