The "Maine" Attraction?

One weekend we decided to be adventurous and drive up to Maine. We had no real plan for the day, just tried to be spontaneous (something not in our character, and for good reason, as you will see).

Turns out, everyone else wants to be adventurous on the nicest weekend of the year, and instead of a 90-minute drive, it took over 3 hours. We hadn't brought any beach stuff, but just wanted to walk out on the breakers and take some pictures. Turns out, what looks like a flat and safe surface from a distance turns out to be a life-threatening situation for little guys. I was terrified that they were going to fall between the huge boulders and be gone forever.

They, of course, wanted to go in the water after that (note Mr. B's face above as we were trying to tell him no) so we decided wading would be okay. But, we neglected to remember that little boys don't hold still in water--they jump, and run, and kick...and get all wet. We loaded back up after trying to remove as much sand as possible, and drove north to find one of the lighthouses R had looked up. After stopping at Costa Vida (supposedly like Cafe Rio in the west, but really, not really) for lunch/dinner, we tried to find a lighthouse. Couldn't find the way to the one he wanted, but we did manage to find this one:
Ahh, yes, the one we wanted is way over THERE:

We still had a fun time, but it was a long day without much accomplished (except time together, R reminds me), and a LOT of time in the car.

We made it back just in time to sample this at our friend's house:

Cocoa Metro Drinking Chocolate

So, so good for all you dark chocolate lovers. It really is like liquid chocolate--goes down nice and smooth. They've just begun marketing it; I think it is available here at WholeFoods and Bread and Chocolate.

For me, that saved the day....
