Painting

Ever since we came to look at this townhouse with the realtor, we intended to paint (it screamed for a second coat at least, and a new color at best). :) Originally, the plan was fall--who wants to paint in heat and humidity?--when my mom and dad were planning to come. Their trip got postponed, and thus so did the painting. Finally, we decided we were big kids, and should just do it ourselves.

We prepped all week (late nights) with scrubbing, sanding, filling holes, sanding, filling holes, and more sanding. R got everything finally ready while I was lucky enough to go out and see Twilight2 with some friends (what a guy, huh?) on Friday night.
We got up Saturday morning and decided (after Mr. B almost did serious damage to himself trying to drag the folding table up the basement stairs for breakfast) that it would be good to not have the boys around for the actual painting. It was so cute, though. Mr. B woke up so excited and had the kitchen can opener sitting on the paint cans, all ready to open. I dropped them off at our very ambitious friend's house (thanks, D!) while R did final prep. And we were off. I did the rolling, R did the edging. It was a bit slow-going at first, but we improved with time. Finished the first coat in time to get a late nap for D-man. Mr. B was greatly disappointed that the color wasn't much different ("the same color, just a little bit darker" he told Aunt M) but we loved it. We did the second coat after we put them to bed. Can't go wrong with "Chocolate Froth." :)
It dried even better than we thought, and matches carpet, furniture, etc. We love it, and it brings a whole new feel to the room.

Next stop, kitchen (but not this month!).
